Amaeyzing Visionary Award 2023

Kids & Art is thrilled to announce our first Amaeyzing Visionary Award, recognizing an organization or individuals demonstrating exemplary leadership and innovation toward expanding possibilities for healing through art.

Recipients of the 2023 award are co-authors Ivy Ross (VP Hardware Design, Google) and Susan Magsamen (Executive Director, International Arts + Mind Lab, John Hopkins University) for their groundbreaking book, "Your Brain on Art: How the Arts Transform Us," and their work with NeuroArts Blueprint. Their work is a call-to-arms for the radical integration of the arts with science and technology to design a more humane future. It powerfully aligns with Kids & Art’s mission to ensure that art is included as a prescriptive modality in a patient’s treatment and healing journey.

Our Mission

The Kids & Art Foundation uses the power of the arts and creativity to mitigate stress, anxiety and trauma induced from the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric cancer and other critical medical conditions.

We seek to improve well-being during treatment, as survivors, and in bereavement. Together we use art for healing, to empower, encourage, and create memorable experiences.

OUR Research

Check out our Arts in Healthcare Research Report authored by Kids & Art parent and researcher, Dawn Linhardt.

100% of surveyed caregivers report that Kids & Art activities distracted their child from their physical symptoms; 92% say that Kids & Art helped to decrease their child’s anxiety and increased their participation.

Amaey Shah
If people were buildings I would be a brick cottage. My heart would be the fireplace, glowing warm, my feelings would be the family, living inside me.
My nose would be the chimney, bellowing out smoke.
The food the family makes would say I’m always hungry.
My hands would be the bricks, holding up the cottage.
And my eyes would be the two small windows which you look out of.
