DESTINATION WORKSHOPS ARE BACK! Beginning in 2023, Kids & Art will return to providing in-person destination workshops in the Bay Area, offering an opportunity for local pediatric cancer patients, siblings, and families to create art together in dynamic settings.

Each destination workshop features multiple professional artists who will work 1-on-1 with participants on creative experiences inspired by the workshop locations.

Destination workshops are open to pediatric patients/siblings/youth touched by cancer and other critical medical conditions.

Destination workshops are free to participants; advance signup is required.

Why “Amaeyzing?” - Kids & Art Foundation is the legacy of our founder’s son, Amaey. He was always called Amazing Amaey by his friends, and that is how we coined the term “Amaeyzing” for many of the Kids & Art Programs. More about the Kids & Art story.

PAST DESTINATION WORKSHOPs (2023)

SF GIANTS WORKSHOP AT ORACLE PARK

On June 25, Kids & Art held an in-person destination workshop hosted by the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park. Participants worked with professional artists to create portraits of Giants players using oil pastels, colored pencils, and watercolor paints. Other art options included designing temporary tattoos, creating home team pennants and experimenting with gelli plate printing. Giants outfielder Mitch Haniger stopped by to meet the kids, sign autographs and admire their artwork. For many participants, this was their first in-person Kids & Art workshop, and they had a wonderful time meeting other pediatric cancer families. We send a big thank you to the artists and volunteers who helped at the workshop as well as to Tess, Graham and the entire Giants organization.

FUSED GLASS SELF PORTRAITS WORKSHOP AT PUBLIC GLASS, SF!

On April 23 Kids & Art held its first in-person destination workshop of 2023 at Public Glass, San Francisco’s Center for Glass, Art & Education.  Participants learned glass fusion techniques from teachers at the center, then worked with artist volunteers to create self-portraits. Drawing inspiration from Polaroid pictures of themselves, the pediatric cancer patients, survivors, and siblings used principles of color and shape to design their portraits. This was the first group in-person destination workshop we have held since February of 2020, and the children and families were excited to reconnect with old friends while they learned about new art techniques in the creative space. We want to send a big thank you to all the teachers at Public Glass, as well as our artists and volunteers who helped at the workshop.
